You may think I'm a whore. Garry Conn certainly seems to.
In his opinion, anyone who accepts sponsored reviews or paid posts is,
"accepting money from a pimp daddy for doing whorish work."
He seems to enjoy the "Pimp Daddy" reference because he returns to it again when he declares that after a blog gets google-slapped for paid posts,
"...your pimp daddy will no longer want you and you'll be left in the dark with no job, and no PageRank to come crawling back to."
Wow! Got drama?
I have no intention of arguing the issue of whether or not I'm a whore. Quite frankly, I don't care what anyone thinks and I'm quite certain this was just one of Garry's experimental posts where he tries to stir up controversy and get attention. In fact, I was a little hesitant to reward him with a PR4 link but, hey, it's Christmas.
The irony of the whole thing to me is, these over-the-top statements came from someone who makes their living off of a network of over 100 sites who's sole purpose is to lure in searchers in the hopes that they will click an ad or affiliate link.
In that context, doesn't it start to sound a bit like a hooker yelling across the street,
"You may make $15 a trick but your pimp's gonna dump you one day!
My pimp promised as long as I work for 50 cents a pop, he'd keep me around forever!"
We might as well be standing on a corner in downtown Memphis.

Ha ha ha! You definitely gave me a laugh with this one. (#):)

Little bit of Harsh Language if you ask me. Though I like the intent of his post. It was a little rough to swallow. Kind of like eating a pine cone. Now I have to say that I seldom come across post I think are selling a product. Now granted I may be the dummy they are going after, the paid post targets, but I don't see many of them. I did see one on here the other day but I added some comments to that posting also. The post Needed a little something extra. Especially since it was on topic of my new night time freelance work Give them another plug. The free part is the operative portion of that phrase.
Don't worry a fools got to work and when you "ain't" bringing in the big bucks you got to do what you got to do. So if you keep posting about home care in the UK I promise to keep posting comments about the US Homecare Agencies.
But what I really want is your witty stories about the SEO and social media folks.
Bush Mackel - Me too :)
Chris Estes - Personally, I didn't like the intent of his article.
In fact, when I think of all the Stay At Home Moms who use these services to make a little extra Christmas money, I find his article over the top and offensive.
I guess I need to work up some new satire then :)
BTW - Have you read Google Announces End of PageRank?
I love Garry Conn posts :)

He definitely knows how to generate some link bait though
PoEt - You hit the nail right on the head, Link Bait.
I just wonder if he doesn't lose a bit of credibility every time he posts one of these whiny, holier-than-thou rants.
Whether intentional or not, Garry certainly did succeed with the link bait!
I can understand why you feel so strongly about this issue. Perhaps it wasn't the best approach by Garry. I have a feeling that he intended the comparison to prostitution to be funny, but to most people, it didn't come across that way.
I don't know why I'm just now getting around to subscribing to your feed. I check the place out from time to time. I'll try to do so more regularly from now on!
Have a great day!
Tish - I don't believe Garry does much by accident ;)
Welcome aboard! I'm always exited when a writer I admire becomes a subscriber.
Just don't be afraid to use that "Next Item" button when one of those nasty sponsored reviews comes along ;)
